Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient system of medicine that views health as a state of internal balance between mind and body.

Practitioners use a number of treatment options based on individual patient evaluation and diagnosis. Sessions may include one or a combination of modalities such as Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion, Guasha, and Tuina. Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine in which thin needles are inserted into the body.

TCM can be used to treat a multitude of conditions and is often used as complimentary therapy to Western Medicine.

Appointments are available at our onsite corporate clinics, or, for an additional fee, from the comfort of your own home.

Hi, I’m Katie! I’m a Registered Acupuncturist, Certified Yoga Instructor, and Health Coach.

Katie earned her Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Dalhousie University in 2009 and started her career working as a corporate auditor for one of Canada’s leading professional services firms. Her time spent in Toronto’s financial district provided first hand experience with the physical and mental stress that is standard working in such a fast paced and demanding environment.

Katie was first exposed to Chinese Medicine during this time while trying to manage her own chronic back pain. Not only did the treatments resolve her pain, but the simple principles of Chinese Medicine made sense in a way that always seemed lacking from her previous experience with many Western modalities.

Katie opted for early retirement from her accounting career and returned to school to share the same tools and principles that had helped her. Katie graduated from Toronto’s Institute of Traditional Medicine and became a Registered Acupuncturist in 2018.

In addition to being the founder of My Balanced Life, Katie is currently running her own private practice specialising in pain and stress. Katie is an active volunteer with the Toronto People with Aids Foundation and runs a free acupuncture clinic for their clients.
